REVIEWS

I have been asking people I know to read the book and give their feedback

When esteemed international entrepreneur Roland Sharman asked me to write a review of his book “AI For Everyone: The Hands-On Beginner’s Book” I thought he’d sent an email to the wrong person. Honestly? My idea of ‘high tech’ was knowing how to change a flat tire. And who is this guy “AL” (AI) everyone is talking about, who’s already become indispensable to so many?

My curiosity as a journalist-broadcaster then jumpstarted my reading Mr. Sharman’s book. I was immediately drawn in; it was written for non-techies like me in “newsroom” basic language anyone could follow and understand. I was hooked. You will be too. Roland doesn’t give you the geek’s typical jump into the high end of the pool, sink or swim.

He took me (and ergo will you) step-by-step into this new world that will easily and immeasurably improve your own. Take it from the guy who only years ago wanted to go only as far as “The Wealthy Barber” or "Jazz For Dummies;” this was my kind of language, clean and simple.

When Mr. Sharman wrote “no tech skills required,” I could finally put away my father’s (an automotive engineer) disappointment when he told this sensitive kid “You’ll never be mechanical.” You should see me now, Dad!

Roland states “AI becomes your partner, not a puzzle.” That’s the key. He walks us, humans afraid of and avoiding any change, through a process that painlessly turns AI into a priceless friend (for FREE). When he says “good input leads to excellent output," he shows us how to hone our questions to be more specific and get dazzling answers. That’s the ticket, no dancing, no veils.

Still think it’s foreign or for geeks only? You’re already using it, when your computer sends stuff you really don’t want, automatically into the “spam” folder; or when you once checked out a car or shirt, new offerings get sent to you to explore in the same fields.

Roland destroys the myth that AI is magic; it’s not. He rightly says it’s practice. Mistakes do happen, AI isn't perfect, just like you riding a bike for the first time. But the more you use it the more it learns and becomes the expert. Taking it further, AI becomes your executive assistant, your patient librarian, your navigator, your writing and artist instructor, a non-judgmental teacher (no exam on Friday!), translator into or from any language, and it’s there, FREE, 24/7. Literally, your new, now and forever, right arm.

Roland Sharman wrote “AI Can Be Available For Everyone to Use” so I put him and the book to my own test; it had to be plain and simple or I’d stick with using 5% of my iPhone and computer. He won. It won. I won. I’m now a believer and a user. AMAZING!

Roland Sharman's introduction to AI is an easy read and takes a novice's approach to the world of AI and all of its potential complexities. It is a step by step account of how AI already interacts in our everyday life and how we can use it to our benefit.

The chapters and tools are broken down with a concise flow, that makes good sense. This is an initial guide, a first step for those who may feel that they know nothing or who may feel sceptical. It encourages the reader to try it out with straight forward instructions and examples. It encourages you to dabble in this world if it is a scary proposition for you or if it has more questions and fears.

A very practical application to what has the potential to be a complex space. I would recommend that you take the time to have a read through this practical, engaging and well written book. If the purpose was to introduce, engage and utilise AI in a learning framework then it hit the mark!

Roland Sharman’s approachable, insightful guide delivers exactly what its title promises. Grounded in over 30 years of practical computing experience, this book removes the mystery from artificial intelligence and replaces it with genuine understanding. What stands out is the clarity with which Sharman demystifies complex concepts, from pattern recognition to image generation and makes them not only digestible but inviting. It’s a book written for the everyday person, with no tech background required, and that’s what makes it so powerful. Whether you’re a student, professional or simply curious, you’ll come away with real tools and skills to begin using AI immediately. This is not theory, it’s application. Warmly written and expertly structured, it’s a must read for those ready to make AI part of their daily life and professional tool kit. Highly recommended.

Excellent down to earth, balanced pitch for the majority still confused about the impact of AI. Well done

Wish you every success when it’s published

Readability: A little repetitive for anyone used to using it in the early pages, but I appreciate that this is intended to reinforce the understanding of the principles.

Purpose of the book: This was achieved extremely well.

It became apparent that I was already using AI without necessarily knowing. Which meant that important extra knowledge was easily acquired from this book.

I think the title of the book (“AI For Everyone: The Hands-On Beginner’s Book”) would indicate that if your knowledge of AI was basic or non existent, this is the book for you.

The last few pages regarding coding etc I would need to read again and explore as this is entirely outside my current knowledge, but if it as concisely explained as the AI apps , then I expect to understand the concept without too much problem.
